Have to check mine when I get out of the bath, but hopefully too old. Reckon it may be 2006/7 vintage, plus however long Currys had it in their warehouse.

Phoned Hotpoint today.....they are sending an 'engineer' out this Friday to replace the part....apparently its the door lock mechanism that needs to be replaced....not sure what that means  :-\ as the door doesnt have a 'lock' on it....ok it knows when you open the door.....i'll see what the 'engineer' replaces......

ah the good old hotpoint engineer - last I met, well all can say is, his forehead kept is feet dry.

watch them carefully, half of them are paid on piecework basis so they earn more the quicker they are ( or the quicker they can throw your machine back together)

Cough cough. Bit smoky in here  >:(

I really should have paid more attention when this was 'news' rather than 'history'

Our old Hotpoint dishwasher was happily splashing away this evening until it there was a nasty noise from the pump and the indicator lights went out. :(

Walked into the kitchen and decided to switch it off at the wall due to a hint of smoke coming out of the back...........

My has now had almost 10 years of perfect service and has never broken down. :y :y :y

Thoroughly recommend the East European make, 100% reliable, it has never suffered from any breakdowns or recalls. :y :y :y

However, very not easy to find, expensive to purchase, it has high maintenance costs and horrendous disposable ones. :o :o :o

The make if you are interested and want one is revealed below. ??? ??? ???

I decided to have a quick check this morning to see if I could get the thing to pump out all the water before taking it to the tip.

When I took the top off the plug to check the fuse I found only charred remains. The clamp screw on the fuse holder must have have come loose and caused the cable to overheat - the fuse was still fine.

Cut the remains of old plug off and fitted a new one. When I switched the dishwasher back on it beeped, flashed a few lights and carried on with the cycle it had been on last night :)
