Knee jerk reaction ... petitions to make acid available to licensed people.

As i said earlier it is freely available in 5 litre containers here for about £3. Never heard of acid attacks here.

Problem is the person not the product.
The problem is all the do-gooders and too much tolerance we have in this country, coupled with a mismanaged, out of touch enforcement department (Police).

Now regulars here know I have nothing but the utmost respect for the Police, particularly those doing the real work (except our local hobby bobby from a few years back, pretentious little jumped up prick, him and I had more than one disagreement on a Friday night).  But I lost all faith in their procedures when bro called 999 during an armed robbery, and was told to call back again when the robbers had left.  Where is the deterent in that?

Quite incredible. :o If he'd told the Police he had a shotgun and was dealing with them himself they'd have been round in 30 seconds. >:(

One of his more elderly staff, now retired, stood up to them and sent them on their way empty handed.

I guess that shows how different generations deal and tolerate different things.

I believe she had a stiff brandy afterwards though.

Probably the armed police were out doing other important stuff like....

Two armed police hanging around outside the Marriott in Swindon since Thursday evening probably because some bigwig that you've never heard of from the USA Air Force is staying there, due to RIAT this weekend ...... it would be interesting to know who is paying for their services/time  :-\

Except too much 'bending over'

Bending over for a good hiding is one thing. Bending over to pick up the soap in the shower is another. :)

I would like to think RIAT were picking up the bill....  :-\ or the bigwig/USA Airforce  :-\ or maybe even the Marriott  :-\

Not sure of Marriott prices this weekend...but their more expensive than the Holiday Inn...Holiday Inn prices went from £80/night to £150/night for this weekend.....so they can afford it....as guaranteed to be a full house at every hotel this weekend.....

All we really need is one whopper of a sentence for the next attacker, set an example, and it will start putting them off. It worked for the Glasgow razor gangs, so why not this?

Unfortunately, due to "left wing luvvies" (Bliar - 2003) of some years back that CANNOT happen now.. although I wish it would.

Sentencing Council was set up to "standardise" sentences across the UK, if a Judge now steps outside those guidelines it is immediately appealed and in 95% of cases the sentence is reduced on appeal.

https://www.sentencingcouncil.org.uk/

https://www.sentencingcouncil.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/Draft-guideline-Bladed-articles-and-offensive-weapons-guideline.pdf

which by my reading makes the absolute maximum for carrying a knife 2 years 6 months  :(

Using a knife gets you into GBH / ABH / Armed assaults etc etc which have different guidelines.

:(
