Reluctantly I had to forma and reinstall XP Pro.

All goes well, been adding various programs and software in slowly.

Bloody computer has now changed user status on me, cant go back or get into my ordinary account as it does not show, cant use/find system restore and futher more there are no Admin tools

Typical  :(

I used to keep a clean formatted hard drive and then swap the master slave jumpers over and try and recover the info.

When installing/re-installing more than one piece of software, I also rebooted several times to check everythiing is ok and create restore points.

Non of this helps you at the moment, so have a cup of tea and persivere keep trying

I need to appologise, I have found the prolem, it was a tick box with in a program I had ticked.  All sorted now. :y :y :y
