Sky Q
« on: 17 November 2021, 15:23:19 »

Been with Sky for years,

On the phone last week and got a reduction in the monthly bill after old contract ran out and price went up. ::)

Also opted for the Sky Q box as my HD+ box keeps locking up.

Just found out there is a 2TB box but cant find out how to obtain one.

Also been told they change the LNB for the Sky Q which is a disapointment as I allways had the old unit for use in my bedroom (Record & Playback)  Obviously can still use the HD+ unit but seems I wont be able to record on it.

Anything of interest the Sky Q has other than being able to record more channels at the same time.

Can the USB ports be used on them?

Should have just bought one of these, like I did, from AMAZON!

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00EX9JQ54/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_2?smid=A9P6EG8QVECCW&psc=1

I have the current 1TB and a spare I paid £20  for from my Ex's Daughter when she upgraded.

You should have brought the 2 TB SKY plus HD box model DRX895W, plenty on gumtree, ebay etc sub £50
and NOT bothered with SKY Q
the SKY Q box is rented to you ,not owned outright
extra subscription costs apply if you want multiroom
(the 500GB ,1 and 2 TB boxes you can use a £5 magic eye to remote view the main box)
so unless you watch ultra HD ,SKY Q is pointless expense

do you have 14 days to cancel  :-\

Not really, I pay £15 a month less, and if the remote screws up they give me a new one rather than charge me for it. :y :y

I just renegotiated with SKY as I was "out of contract"
and I decided to stay "out of contract"  :D

SKY variety £39 (same programs as "signature" package) i kept ,and can cancel whenever I want .

they wanted £40 per month for 63mb fibre broadband unlimited  and talk unlimited  ::) IF I agreed to an 18 month contract  :-X
I got the same 63mb fibre unlimited  and talk unlimited with only a 12 month contract from NOW TV (who SKY owns anyway) for £22 a month , £5 fee for a new router (same router sky supply)
12 month SKY movies package from now TV for £6 a month NOT £19 SKY wanted

It pays to renegotiate and shop around

my cost is now £67 month ,SKY wanted £97 plus a further £19 for movies ,so £116  :o
SKY £1392
my setup £804
saving £588 per year
