Canada is now insisting on all the documentation being checked at Check In, including the ArriveCan QR code.

Might also explain why the A380 on its way back is two hours late...

Today will be the third round trip to Vancouver in as many days for G-XLEE...

Its certainly a popular destination at the moment!

We got in at 1145 off a close-to-capacity 747-430, made our way to our connection, only to find the gate next door was loading a similarly busy plane of identical spec on its way right back. Plus the daily A350 we took out of MUC.

The ArriveCAN system was actually pretty good to use, as these things go, read our passport data using the phone camera and accepted pdfs of the NHS covid stuff. I guess it does rely on people actually doing it before getting to the gate though.  ;D

They changed it this week so the QR code must be seen at Check In.

Had a British couple, resident in BC for the last 12 years, arrive to return to Vancouver absolutely distraught, because when they had gone to check in on line, they were greeted with 'Unable to travel due to incorrect documentation'.

Turns out the ArriveCan QR code check had been added to the list. Last week you simply had to demonstrate compliance upon arrival...
