So first day I’ve used Chiltern since nationalisation, and I’m stranded at a station with the service cancelled.

Same shit trains, same shit staff, same shit service. Same incompetence, same indifference.
.

What an awful experience, I honestly can't remember the last time we've been on a train in the UK, used them in Spain whenever we're there always on time & spotlessly clean .

That was my daily headache on the MML pre-privatisation, we were convinced they had an excuse book, no driver, no guard, only filled one loco with fuel, braking issue, signal fault, late running previous service, pikeys thieving the cables etc etc.

Driverless trains would be answer........(one hell of a lot easier to do than a driverless car and safer than an over unionised human)

I used Chiltern Railways just a few weeks ago. As usual I boarded at Haddenham and Thame Parkway to Marylebone (Stag do at Clays in London), and as usual I got just inside the doors and that's as far as I could get in.  ::)  It was absolutely rammed, so almost an hour travelling standing up and trying to balance, as I couldn't get in far enough to hold on to anything. I could see the toilet at the end of the carriage  but there was zero chance of reaching it as the aisle was rammed as well. On the plus side it was bang on time. :)  We usually manage to get a seat when going to Birmingham as we're getting on earlier in that direction, but it gets rammed on the last few stations.
Glad it's not my main mode of transport.  :y

ASLEF would never allow that, in the same way they won't allow East-West Rail to run, so that new track is rotting away.
