As for Hermes: you are  out of date, as it is called Evri now and vastly better than than before. ;D ;D
You''ll note I called it Herpes.  Hermes, Evri, Herpes. Same shit, different name.  Evri still have an uncanny ability to lose or significantly delay stuff, as its exactly the same company as it was before, with the same processes, same systems, and same way of working.

Our local Herpes lady is really good.  But I reckon about 25% of parcels I send via Herpes goes astray, usually just temporarily, but not always.  About 50% get left at the pick up point for more than 3 days, which buggers my Ebay feedback when I say its a 3 day courier.  One set of parcels was left there for over 10 days, and I could seem them in the heap, but wasn't allowed to recover them and send via RM.

But back on Autoshite.  Most of the brands they sell are very low end.  Which may or may not be an issue for some.  If the stuff you buy turns up more or less when promised, and is correct, then thats fine.

My issue with Autoshite is when they do cock up (or Herpes cocks it up badly), they are completely disinterested and near impossible to deal with, even if you get a German speaking colleague to call them.  And invariably, you have to jump through the hoops of going through your card company to get it refunded.  Yes, you can guess how I know this.  Twice.  Across 3 orders.

Be aware, Autoshite run a number of different sites that are all essentially the same, as a way to get all the top hits in search engines.  That should tell you a lot.

None of those parts need to be GM, and because they're all shared with other models will be readily available from any local motor factor.

Agreed.  :y

In fact very few, if any, vehicle manufacturers actually make their own filters. It’s not in their interest to do so, they just label up the packaging as their own brand.
If I buy a genuine oil filter for either of our Audi’s from a main dealer, the oil filter has the Audi logo on the end, but it also has the MANN logo on the opposite side. It’s the same when I’ve bought them for our bmw, MANN or Mahle on one side and bmw on the other.  :y  So, it doesn’t pay to read too much in to ‘genuine’ filters, just buy a decent brand.

Thanks for the help & replies, it’s nice to find a forum still with active members i thought they all died away back in the early 2000s ;D

I know any brand of stuff would do but thought it would be nice to have Gm lol, plus back in the day it used to be well priced but alot of stuff seems hard to get now which is bumping the prices up. Likes of the original red antifreeze for 5 litres is over £100 in some places. Is the blue stuff ok to use or better sticking with red from another brand?

I would recommend you try Autodoc who some of us have found very good for sourcing the products we need, and recently still had GM oil available. They source parts from across Germany and Europe generally, so still offer the items previously available for Vauxhall and Opel cars, where indeed the Omega was built. ;)

Personally, I find the Autodoc (and associated companies) have the most annoying website... constantly wanting you to download their app for 10% cheaper prices - which then makes me search elsewhere. Car Parts in Motion for one have always provided good quality branded parts (if GM isn't an option for me) at competitive prices. Autodoc - no thanks. I can't stand their website.....

Back when Trade Club was running, it was a no-brainer, as it brought it all down to at or below the cheap stuff but for a decent quality part (usually!), and delivered to your door, often the same day.

Sadly, Trade Club is no more :(

I'm a fan, either direct from them, or via their Ebay store, which ever is the cheapest on the day.  Sometimes it takes a few days to turn up.

They sell Bosch pads and discs, which have become my favourite low cost brand for brakes, as they seem to be able to withstand some abuse...  ...apparently  ::)

we all have our l
preffered suppliers and manufacturers but as time goes on we will have to rely on afternarket parts more and more in the future . for service items that dont impact reliability or performance isnt much of a worry but eventually we will be using pattern crank sensors and finding which ones actually do last ( they cant ALL be useless !)

I use CarPartsInMotion and ACP as my go to ebay suppliers.

Mercedes parts I either buy over the counter where convenient or from MB Newcastle as their prices are generally better for service parts and fluids with Next Day Parcel force delivery included.

For the various projects any hardware and wiring harnesses are generally bought new, but the actual components from wherever I can find them, although price and shipping can make brand new cost effective.

Everything going on the Nissan is Nissan with the exception of the sealant as I couldn't find the specs for it from Nissan and they wanted stupid money for theirs so went with the Mercedes factory approved stuff for less... 3 tubes and the remover for the price of the Nissan one.
