Its spoilt rotten and pampered. No other "owner" will treat it as well. 
I suspect our ol' slug (Dad's pet name for the thing, usually after it had run riot over his veg patch
) was spoilt more, to the point of having a large, walled lawn made for it, and a proper summer house for him 
Nice to hear of another one being well cared for.
We have allotments at the end of our garden where rats thrive, so were nervous about letting ours roam free in the garden.
Also a bit worried that the huge Red Kites that fly over all the time might take a shine to it.
So its gets an hour or two supervised play in the garden in warm weather, but otherwise it has its own playpark I built for it complete with a large cold frame for soaking up the heat at one end, and a wooden house to shelter from the sun if it wants to at the other.
Lots of healthy food grows in there too, so it can munch on the move.
