Dame Antonia Romeo is the Cabinet Secretary who was appointed in February of this year. It seems that she has a iffy career history and was a controversial choice but Starmer appointed her anyway.

It has emerged today that Simon Case the former Cabinet Secretary advised Keir Starmer (in writing) that if he wanted a political appointee to be the UK Ambassador in DC, he should let the Civil Service do the security vetting before any announcement.

It seems that Starmer ignored that advice and the rest is history.

Surely he can't cling on.  Can he?

Apparently he is going to make a statement to the house this afternoon admitting he misled Parliament, but he did so inadvertently.
Previously he called for ministers to resign on six separate occasions for this. He said that the fact it was inadvertent was no excuse and they still had to go.
Someone on the tellybox just said he is either an idiot or he is morally bankrupt.
I would say he is both.
