A couple of days ago, Health Centre receptionists playing God with appointments for my usual INR blood test with a nurse pissed me off. Middle of July she said, not good enough I said, the letter says the 24th June. She said if that’s not good enough, go to John Radcliffe to have it done. I reminded them that it was that attitude that nearly killed me four years ago, so she went off to see someone to complain I guess. Another woman came back and said “10am on the 24th ok”
What is it with GP receptionists that makes them feel superior.    I can’t help the short notice, I’m governed by the hospital. The nurses are great and have all said to call them if it happens again.

Yes, they are wannabe doctors, and feel they have the power....

My hackles immediately go up when I see those signs that they will not tolerate abuse to their staff.  Clearly that shows they know they have an issue, and should actually do something about it if so many people are getting frustrated with them.

Our GP still has the 8 o'clock stampede for appointments, but you can usually get one. You ring at eight and they invariably say 'can you get here for 8:30 or 8:45'. If you say no, that's too soon, they ask you why. Cheeky beggars. If you then say 'I just can't', they go quiet for a couple of seconds then say 'Ok, 5:45 this evening'. Tea time. Twots.

Most are menopausal mares who think they are god. Most love to gossip.

I always refuse to tell them why I want to see the doctor, telling them it is no concern of theirs other than to make the appointment.

For some reason the health centres love to employ gobby women, the exact people who should never be a receptionist.

Shit.

Firstly far too much. So much so I couldn't even fly home as a passenger. Have to be symptom free for at least 24 hours.

Now too little. After almost 24 hours told to start with 2 imodium then upto three a day. Took the first two 24 hours a go and now nothing. So presumably if I hadn't taken them whatever the cause was was just about passed, no pun intended (although it's quite witty).

And if that wasn't enough, have had a gout flare up overnight which I can't take anything for in case it makes the shits come back and at the same time I need to stay hydrated so have to go to the shops to get more water...must have drunk about 18 litres of water since Monday

No such luck here. You have to fill out an online form, attach photos and jump through a shit load of hoops.  If you are deemed to be on deaths door, they might call you to make an appointment at some point in the future.
