German Ebay for Omega parts?
« on: 26 September 2008, 13:47:50 »

Are we OOfers missing a trick by not buying parts off German Ebay?

I know some members get Irmscher parts off German Ebay but what about run of the mill stuff.?  Two things that I find a bit irritating about Ebay uk are:
1. A lot of sellers aren't prepared to send abroad
2. The Elite model seems to not be catered for very well. e.g. Springs, air shock absorbers.

Of course a big stumbling block is not being able to search effectively in German despite being able to converse a bit in the lingo. So my question is has anyone found a decent seller of Omega bits on the German site? What are self levelling shock absorbers in German? What is the equivalent Saloon elite model there? Caravan or is that the estate?

This made me think (for a change! ::) ::)), as when I have purchased parts for Carlton's, Senator and Omega's, from a Vx dealer they have originated in Germany anyway.  Some have been specially flown in to meet my order at the time.  8-);)

I think buying parts from Germany would be a good idea :y, cutting out the middleman, if the prices reflect savings that are worthwhile, language barriers do not cause problems and the Euro / £ exchange rate does not kybosch the whole amount to be saved on the bottom line.

I am waiting for other members comments on this that's for sure! :y :y

I have bought stuff from German Ebay, along with a CID for my Omega, the one problem is not all German Ebayers take paypal, don't know why when its forced upon us in the UK.

You can't do a normal bank transfer to Germany, I had pay a visit to my Bank and they charged me £17.50.

On one transaction even the receiving bank removed about 5 Euro. So i had to send the money (cash this time) to cover that.

I've also found doing a European search on the UK Ebay site doesn't always find what your looking for, try looking at www.ebay.de first to find the item number then put it into the Uk site.

Hi,
I've used a guy who's listed as (?) Immer_gut on German e-bay.
Got all my carbon stuff from him (new) 2 years ago (Irmscher UK haven't had pre-facelift Carbon stuff for ages).

He does paypal and emails in english
I use AltaVista bable-fish too for trying to do searches on German eBay which is some times sucessful.

I'll try and find his web address too.
