just to put $700billion into perspective, with the US market down 777 points in ONE day, that represents a $1trillion dollar loss!!!!

Total planned bail out =   $700 000 000 000
Loss in one day         = $1 000 000 000 000

so how does $700billion even make a dent?
thats like losing £100 every day, and borrowing £70 once to cover it! :-/

It looks like Labour will be departing office once again leaving behind a terrible economic mess just as they did in 1979. Spent too much, taxed too much, borrowed too much. We are shortly going to have an annual PSBR of 90 to 100 billion pounds per year  
North sea oil and gas are running out and we have very little manufacturing capacity left. The financial services sector on which the UK now relies on so much is unravelling by the hour.

Another one is Groom, A.J.R. and Taylor, P. (1990) Framework for International Cooperation London: Pinter

If you require further excellent insight into 'Globalisation' I would highly recommend two keys books that I have had to extensively study:

Langhorne, R. (2006) The Essentials of Global Politics London: Hodder Arnold

Baylis, J. & Smith, S. (2006) The Globalisation of World Politics 3rd Edition Oxford: Oxford University Press

Professor A. J. R. Groom unlocked Google. Odd that A. J. Groom didn't bring anything meaningful up. A failing in Google, obviously.

It is a shame that he doesn't have any published texts available for free review (not that Google could find on the first few pages anyway). Us unwashed masses will have to do without his enlightenment on global politics - for free anyway.

In the meantime, congratulations on having such a tutor for your studies - and good luck with them.

Actually written material outside his books and papers on academic journals are very rare, as we found throughout his lectures!  

He is an old fashioned Professor who does not use Powerpoint or hand out notes!  He simply talks from his vast memory, sometimes glancing at notes he has used for 20/30 years, along with engaging in questions and debate.  But then he leaves without leaving any notes and other 'lesser' academic staff are left to produce any back up material we need!

It was all great stuff though!
