SORN
« on: 10 October 2008, 21:26:16 »

Just got the V5 for the Tractor today and booked it in for its MOT before putting it up for sale officially.

So I did the Electronic SORN, no prob there. Then I remembered the NEW rules, so I tried to get info from DVLA...Shut ok just for my own peace of mind I phoned the local Nick. Told them that the car was parked in a DESIGNATED parking area. NO, can't park it there, Thats classed as the ROAD. ok what about infront of my rented GARAGE. hmmm I'll go ask. NO Classed as the ROAD.

What do you think

Car is parked in the TOP red box, the other 2 red boxes are also DESIGNATED parking areas.

Red box on the Left is in front of MY garage box on the right is Helen

NOT HAPPY
gonna have to get the FULL LEGISLATION now from DVLA >:( >:( >:(

It was on the footpath between the two bits of grass (wide bit of footpath).., apparently Footpaths count as highway.

But as far as I can gather.., they can come after a car they suspect has no tax, even if it is on grass.., that's the whole point of the law changed isn't it?  More money for them blah blah.

I see a lot of those, and what about caravans parked on the road and in parking spaces :-?

To be honest, we might end up moving.  Its probably gonna be cheaper to pay rent for a place with a large garage or parking area (with access) in back garden than paying all these un clamping fees lol.

Apparently caravans don't count cause they don't have an engine which stops us worrying about the red elite cause we've already sold and removed the engine from it.  Mind u, I don't suppose they'll bother to check that little detail if they decide to clamp it lol

Im having this same trouble myself :(

Using a caravan park 20 odd miles away for about 5 of my motors now. Costs enough but cheaper than keeping them taxed all year round thank you very much >:(

The amount of f*ckwits that just step into the road, I might have to start using the paths ;D ;D

well unless we can figure out how to hang it from the sky, I am sure they'll say that having it hung from something in contact with the road is the same as having the blasted car in the road.

lol, seeing Jue's post above.., perhaps we should paint a gnome on them or something or put a water feature on the roof :P.

Mmmh, perhaps we could put a bird bath on them and call them moveable bird sanctuaries ???????
