Like every other organisation that runs vehicles the Police have had to cut budgets and spending on marked and specialist cars has been curtailed. As we all know there are fewer dedicated traffic cars around, leaving the ones that are still in service to do more work, more time on the road, less time in the workshop. I have no doubt that the cars are always kept in a roadworthy condition, but other routine tasks and service intervals may be extended to save money. In our area, Durham, the best parts are taken off the cars and swapped into cars which are still in use before the de-commissioned ones are disposed of, seats, door mirrors, bits of trim, wheels / tyres etc. I personally wouldn't buy one, the various drivers have no financial commitment to the car so really couldn't give a stuff about what goes wrong as they don't have to pay to have it repaired. If you don't mind the odd bits of trim and other items which don't affect the running of the car and are purely cosmetic then it's a cheap car, those sort of miles are nothing for a Volvo. Armed Response cars usually have a safe fitted in them so check to see if the floor is 100% intact and hasn't been cut to accommodate the safe.
