Radio Question
« on: 25 October 2008, 20:48:17 »

Me and some mates are going on a road trip in 4 cars, and taking 2 way radios. Just wondering what's the law like with using 2 way radios whilst driving? Although there'll prolly be at least 2 people in each car, but the might not be :s

Technically I believe the ban on handheld mobile phones is just that. It doesn't apply to other types of radio hence hand held microphones still in use by taxi drivers, etc. However, I think you'd be wise to get some sort of headset for them if used by the driver. You can always be pulled for due care and attention.

Same as mobile phones. Remember CB radios, they used to get you on DWDC&A

Two way radios are not prohibited as explained in the following Sussex Police explanation on this law:

http://www.sussex.police.uk/campaigns/mobilephone.asp

but as stated above you can still get done for "undue care and attention" ;)
