in winter wipe a thin smear of washing up liquid along rubber blade.
1) doesn't smear as much
2)prolongs life of wiper by keeping rubber soft and prevents going brittle and splitting
3)if windscreen freezes then wipers don't stick so easily

I never use cleaning products on the inside, just fairy liquid in hot water.  No smeary bits.  Clean the dash etc. with the same after, can't stand a shiny dash top.  Use a good quality tea towel to dry and polish after.

I use neat screenwash in a small sprayer bottle, then use a cloth.
