I have heard there are two theories about this, both of which make sense.

1. You have fewer new experiences as you age. It is new experiences which highten your senses, making them more memorable. Think about the last time you went away for a week maybe on business or a holiday where you are doing different things each day. You are packing loads in - it always seems like you've been away a long time.

2. When you are 10, each day is a more significant proportion of your life than when you are 50. And since we can only view our lives from our own perspectives, a day does go faster.

So if your do more, learn more and have more new experiences, you  will feel younger. Get into a routine, same thing day in day out and you will wonder what happened to your life.

Food for thought eh?

This was a topic of conversation in the pub on Saturday night which started when someone commented "I can't believe it's nearly Christmas again"

Why is it that time appears to go much quicker as you get older?
Thinking back to schooldays, time seem to pass soooo slow and school summer holidays seemed to last an eternity. Then, each decade that passes it just seems to go quicker and quicker.  :-/

Thoughts?

I cant speak for myself obviously, as I am very young. But I asked an older relative and he agreed that time does seem to pass more quickly for the aged. Still, I wouldn't worry about it too much, you'll probably die quite soon.

 ;D ;D ;D

Spoken like the true grumpy old git you really are Steve!! :D
