Organizations information
« on: 29 November 2008, 09:59:22 »

I contact a lawyer last year to persue a indrustrial cliam for me. It's all been sorted now.
I've just received my mail & i've a letter from them, regarding my finances & also my ex girlfiend who moved out just over 8 years ago has one too.
My question is, how do they retrieve the information about Marie & where do they get it from? Who ever it is should try updating their records. Does anyone work in a similar organization that could answer my question please?

If that is all true then those involved in making that information available are committing an offence under the Data Protection Act. >:( >:(

It should, in my opinion, be reported to the authorities, as certainly the person accepting the £5 is no doubt someone with access to such confidential information and should be "outed" >:( >:(.

There are CD Roms you can buy with all the peoples names addresses & in some cases telephone No's. They cost quite alot of money, but i know they exist, because i had a copy a while back ;) Mine was from the year 2005
They're based on the elect roll :y

Most of these websites use info from electoral roll/companies house/county court registers /phone directory etc,and charge you for the info in one hit rather than having to search for the details seperately. They shouldnt be able to show bank account details and the like, although I do remember someone being prosecuted a few years ago for selling ex- directory phone numbers and other info not found in the public domain.

Exactly Albitz, that is definately and offence under the Data Protection Act ;)

You sure it gave bank details? I have seen them with everything else and they operate legally but not bank details

There was a Panorama (iirc) prog on a few weeks ago ... the reporter gave his guy his name and address ( the guy knew who he worked for anyway). With only those three bits of info it took him less than half an hour to come up with all the reporters personal financial info. Not gained legally I might add !!!
