Horse and carriage.

Did anyone just see on the news about that poor bride who was on the way to church in a horse drawn carriage? Aparently the horse took fright and went runabout. Watch the news later and see the damage it did to the van that stopped it. :o

A couple of months back, just up the road from here, some unthinking motorist cut a corner and startled the horses pulling a rather ornate glass-sided hearse.  The horses broke free and bolted, ending up in the local park, and the hearse tipped over.  I counted 9 police cars and 16 police officers while sitting in the ensuing traffic jam.

A friend of mine does some carriage work, she had a simillar event but hadn't actually picked up the bride. She ended up about two miles from where the horses bolted with the carriage upside down in a river and one leg pinned down underwater and a number of broken bones, IIRC she was on her mobile while trapped in the river trying to sort out some other form of transport!  ;D

Being serious!! .... It's something I've thought about a few times when driving for/with my Dad who's an undertaker. If you were stopped by the police, they make a note of passenger numbers. Does the 'passenger' in the back count?  :-/  :-/  ;)

I used to service the hearse and limo's for a couple of funeral company's... You get some funny looks when power sliding a stretched Granada (accidentally ;) ;)) whilst on a test drive and even funnier looks when you do it in an Omega based Hearse ;D ;D ;D :y :y :y

Years ago .... I used to play the double bass tuba. You should've seen the looks I've had in the past when I was dropped off in the hearse & got the bass out of the 'cargo area'  ;D  ;D  ;D  :y
