If it's a damage only RTC then your local police force probably won't be interested and it will be left to the parties to exchange details and resolve it. In Greater Manchester we won't even take a report for it, if you haven't exchanged details as required by the Road Traffic Act, i.e. name/address, registration and insurance details if possible then you can't leave it to your insurance company to sort out.
