If there aint a screw on the bottom of the radiator, take the bottom hose off to drain the water :y

Remove Jubilee clip from bottom radiator hose & drain it from there. Senator wasn't provided with the rad drain tap as on an Omega. Can't remember now what percentage you'll drain though.  :y

Yes. Be carefull of putting cold water into a hot block though. I cracked my Cortina's engine block doing that, trying to limp the car up country with a leaky rad and topping up with what I could find!  :(  :y  :y  :y

Coolant and oil change now done and the senny sounds even schweeter than she did  :y

Another quick question. What reading should oil pressure gauge be reading just after start up? Mine says 5 1/2 which on a scale of 1 to 6, to me seems quite high???
I found oil pressure sensor and earth was rusty as hell. Removed the 7mm nut and cleaned terminals. Upon putting it back on the thread snapped under very little pressure and has bought the red F light on.

Is there any sort of glue etc that would fit the ring terminal back onto the oil pressure sensor and keep the earth connection ( if you get what i mean)  :D ;D

Sorry for senator questions (mods please let me know if this in a problem) but this is the most knowlegable forum I know  ;) :y

Senators have many friends on here and I for one will always say that with big 6 cylinder Vx engines we are only too happy to talk about them!  :-* :-*8-) 8-) 8-) ;)

Ok im refering really to the 12v here but a good engine on cold had high gauge reading and lowered when warmer so your high reading on cold sounds good to me,when i had the Monza's some i had, had a low reading on cold and when warm the light used to flicker! :D

Can't remember  :-/ but would prefer it reading 5 1/2 than 1/2  ;) I wouldn't much much faith in the digi displys though - they're only a rough guide.

You need another sender!!  ;) ;) :y  I wonder if you could drill a tiny hole down the centre of what used to be a thread and screw a small self tapper down the middle ..... :-/ :-/

Thanks for all the advice guys and nice comments from lizzie (as always)  :y Was quoted £62 for new oil pressure sensor so if anyone knows of somewhere cheaper do let me know. Will try the screw down middle trick first tho. Good idea!!  :y :y :y

Many years ago I changed the dashboard on a MkI Astra to a more clever version that had an oil pressure gauge (instead of the useless vacuum-fed 'Econometer', a big thing in the eighties...). I was horrified to find-out that the combined gauge-and-warning-light sender cost £50 (which was quite a lot more back then than it is now), instead of £3 which is what the warning-light-only sender use to cost...
