Hmm

Well it is quite a good Freeview PVR with 14day EPG.

It also does IPTV - we only have the replay package - which is well worth it.

Quite a few programmes for streaming, but not brand new US Sci Fi - still need to use obtaining for that.

Also HD films - they are OK but prefer HD from the PS3 or the Humax HDR.

All in all not a bad bit of kit a few good documentries as well

.. just don't use the Comtrend adaptors that come with it.  >:(

In fact, lend them to me, and I'll do some EMC testing on them.

I have a nice ethernet cable from HH to BTV box and the power saved has already paid for them.

Mine is Phillips too

If you get your local radio amateur (or anyone who wants to use a radio in the vicinity for that matter) to complain to Ofcom they will bully BT into coming round an fitting a proper CAT 5 cable for you, too. ;D

Mines on a staff package too.  Sold my Comtrend things on fleabay, stuff the OUC ;) Mine is Phillips too, my main critisism is that, if there is a scheduled programme on tv, then something over runs or snooker is on instead of a particicular set of normal shows...  the scheduling is not updated, therefore you only record half the snooker >:(

I don't use any pay per view stuff, we still have SKY... I'm after a Sky + box, then I think the Vision may well go :-X

Ed:
In a nut shell, it maybe better for you to get a twin tuner DVB recorder if you're not bothered about pay view stuff...  Vision is basically just that :)

I had a call from BT asking if I wanted BT Vision.  I asked what my cancellation period is (in case i didn't want it - i already have sky) as they wanted me to sign up for 12 months.  I was told i could cancel any time up until they despatched the box...I told them to go fish..

£3 a month isn't bad and it is quite a good Freeveiw PVR and looks OK scaled up to 1080i

What is the best thing to do with the comtrend adaptors - I just didn't like the idea then found out they use almost as much power as the box itself.

Don't know how good Sky PVRs are but if the comments about them bein gquite a bit worse than my Humax are correct I think Freeview PVRs are definately the best SDTV recordig solution.

I've been half-heartedly playing with MythTV recently. Seems excellent. Mate of mine logs in to his box remotely when on a business trip to schedule recordings then gets them automatically compressed and e-mailed to his laptop for viewing on the flight home. 8-)

You mean everything else you have to pay for if you want it. "Free"view you have to pay for if you want anything...

I must say, if it weren't for the fact that it keeps Mrs. KW occupied I would pull the plug on Murdoch's direct debit.
