Anybody seen a Merc C class estate in a breakers?
« on: 13 January 2007, 17:03:55 »

Spent some of the day trying to sort out the blower fan prob and rear light cluster

Im pretty certain its the blower fan itself....unplugged a 3 pin connector going to speed controller on it....and measured 12v between 0v wire and 12v wire....and got increments of between 0v and 6v on the other wire when i pressed the up speed button on the climate panel.

Removed the fan and took the speed controller off and stuck 12v across the fan terminals....zilch!
Measured the resistance of the motor.....and it reads very high in the Mohms.....so conclusion....fubared motor.

Cheapest quote ive managed to get for a 2nd hand motor so far is £68  :(

Moving on to the rear light cluster.....i just cannot find one of these second hand.....plenty of saloon ones about on ebay but no estate ones  :(

Cheapest new ive come across is about £110  :o

SO waz wondering if anyones seen one in a scrappy??

Cheers

PS does anyone know if a broken rear light cluster.....altho it doesnt show white light.....as the bit that broken is the indicator part and its got an orange bulb fitted......is an MOT failure???
Its MOT runs out in 3 days!

Cant help with the scrappy, I'm afraid.

As for the MOT failure, as long as theres no white light to the rear, should be fine and dandy.  Make sure the reflector is complete and the correct size, in case your tester is picky!  Outside problem may be if theres a sharp corner, but shouldn't think that will affect it much.
