made of sterner stuff....
« on: 16 February 2009, 17:09:01 »

came out of my place yesterday to find my 85 year old neighbour laying in her doorway with 3 gashes in her head.
she had fallen head first onto a boot scraper on her door step and was trying to get up to carry on her chores!!!  we padded her up and took her to the hospital to sit and wait for 4 hours !!!
she seems to be ok dosn't want anyone to come round to help her with her chores and she just wanted a plaster on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o

Bless. Typical of the older generation, don`t want to think of themselves as a burden to anyone :)

No, she's simply not gay like the cotton wool pads generations of today.  A bit of pain never hurt anyone, quite the opposite.

Agreed, they were born and raised in hard times, none, or early nhs, you just did not go to the doctors / hospital, the way the modern generation do now, for fear of making a fuss. :)

I suppose a lot of the older people's attitude stems from the pre NHS days when you had to pay the doctor, so you only went if it was serious.

Only time they got me to hospital was an incident at work that left a lot of facial cuts and bruising ::).  I came around, I was already in the back of the ice cream van with a pretty paramedic connecting me up to an ecg monitor...  ...I tried my charm on her and asked if we could have blues and twos on, but the TB charm didn't cut with her....

The last time I was in hospital as a patient was when I went skating on the classroom floor on my chin. Think I was about nine at the time.
