The usual reminder for Windows users without automatic updates. .

3 for my XP Pro today, restart required.

I note 2 critical patches for servers TB. Hope you aren't too busy testing.

 :-? :-? :-?
What does this mean, should I be doing something? I don't allow updates since having some problems with a service pack that stopped me getting ontothe internet. Advice / suggestions in easy english welcome :-[
You really, really, really, really, really REALLY should be running automatic updates.

Failing that, subscribe to MS's email list for patches and apply manually, but thats a pain

Think you are making a point there TB.  There are about 60 waiting, shall I just let them all on?
yes, though as always, back up important data

What is the best method of doing this? :-[
cd/dvd for home users if just small amounts of data

So my stick is ok then. Cheers. :y
Flash memory, such as usb memory sticks, are very poor backup devices due to poor reliability

I recently bought a USB hard disk for £53 off Amazon. 500 Gb of capacity.

While no professional I know backs up to a hard disk, it will cope with a system failure on my PC and has the capacity to store all my music, pictures and emails without any hassle at all. Daily back ups with some simple freeware software that I hardly notice is running. Ideal for me.  :y
