What about this Omega?
« on: 24 April 2009, 22:53:10 »

I'm still keeping an eye out for an Omega estate and now I've been Omega-less for two months I'm casting the search wider.

Rather than just looking for a 2003 model I'm happy to go back to 2001 for a facelift model.  I definitely want all the toys and to that end I'm happy to opt for the 3.2 V6 to ensure I get them.

With this in mind I'm considering taking a look at this one http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/cars/VAUXHALL+OMEGA/Ne-2-4-5-6-7-8-27-44-49-53-61-64-67-103-133-146-236,N-50-55-63-240-4294966638-4294966947/advert.action?R=200917332841905&distance=24&postcode=KT19+9JA&channel=CARS&make=VAUXHALL&model=OMEGA&min_pr=&max_pr=&max_mileage=&vehicleYearOfManufacture=2001&vehicleRegLetter=51on Autotrader.  What do people think, and more importantly what would I miss out on if I choose a 2001 rather than a 2003 model?  As Vauxhall were running out the Omega did they ensure the last of the 2003 cars got everything available?

Mate I dont think they would fully spec run out cars, only specced as per model or customer request I would expect

Theres a nice looking MV6 3.2 on a 03 plate going in Nottingham for £2995 and 98000 miles.

Think its on Ebay too, reg ends YGZ if I remember.

I guess it would be a waste of money on Vauxhall's part.

The only difference I think I might have found is that the design of the alloy wheels is different between the 2001 and 2003 models I've seen.

What you may find is that dealers will add extra toys to push cars still available when the replacement model is imminent, but really this is only a financial gain to the initial purchaser, the used price is usually bumped up due to the toys.
My sister had an end of run Magane with a stack of extras.

I looked at lots of omegas before buying this one. In my experience each model spec depends on purchase spec.

For me I looked at omega elites only.

Some had colour screen with sat nav, many had everything plus starship enterprise mileage and damaged interiors.

For me in the end I bought a 47,000 mile 2.6 elite (would have prefered a 3.2), with full service history, in mint condition inside and out, (no colour screen and no sat nav  :'(), but it is mechanically in great shape and looks great and anything else can be added later, but the important thong is a good starting point  :y
