markseth's third tractor flies the MoT test
« on: 16 May 2009, 21:29:59 »

My long-standing colleague 'markseth' has recently acquired his third tractor, so I expect he'll be putting in an appearance here soon!

It's a cracking '99 CD manual saloon with extremely spirited performance, that was picked-up for a very fair price, though with a short MoT. 115k on the clock and all the toys working.
Whilst he's been away on holiday, I've spent a day or two giving it the full monty, plus some fettling. It flew it's MoT test this morning, with nil defects - so I guess he's gonna be well-pleased when he returns to The Valleys next week.

I'll see if I can get him to post-up a piccy ASAP. Personally, I'm dead chuffed for him!

What d'ya all say ...... ?

Yep, all my own work, and thanks for the kind comments!

It needed a few regular Miggy 'consumables' - A/R bar droplinks, front discs/pads, and a faded O/S/R flasher bulb. Steering idler and wishbones were spot on! For completeness, I'm gonna get the camber/tracking checked/reset on it tomorrow. It'll then be back in 2.5k miles for it's next engine oil/filter-change.

This is the smoothest, swiftest, non-smoking tractor that I've come across!

I reckon the biggest issue is people sticking to 'annual servicing' on these, which is a big problem.  Sounds like this one is a well looked after one

Camber setting was spot-on. Alignment had slight toe-out - now reset.

Handles well, and goes like a rocket. If it was an estate version, I'd be after it myself.
Car now returned to markseth - indeed he's a very happy chappy! (As predicted).

He's promised to post-up a piccy ASAP.

Cheers Col, yes it's got a few surface scratches and chips, but no rust blisters - excellent really, considering that it's ten years old.
