I would like to extend a HUGE thanks to several people on this forum. There are many, but in particular MarksDTMCalib, Laidbackk66 and Matchless.
This time last year, none of them knew me. At the time I was seriously ill and was in a very bad way due to a genuine illness, and also a mis-diagnosed major scare. These three guys went very much out of their way to help me. Nothing was too much and their kindness was most sincere.
12 months on and I am significantly better, especially in vierw of last weeks operation. Their part in my improvement has been very big, although they may not realise or accept that.
I have met some of the nicest people over the last year and I regard these 3 and many others on here as true friends. They all know they only have to ask and I will return the favour. My point being that I am very humbled by what I have witnessed and felt over the last year and I just wanted to say a big thanks.
I am a cantakerous (is that right) old git as many of you will know. That is partly down to the very strong pain killers I have been on for 7 years, but partly because I am a grumpy bastard anyway. I do throw the odd wobbly as many will remember, but deep down I do mean well. So again, thanks to all of you for putting up with my little tantrums every once in a while.
Hopefully I can make a small contribution here again and will always help anyone who is stuck with either advise, tool loan or just moral support.
I am going on a bit now, so I will end. Just to say once again, THANKS.
Fin, I'm sure the feeling was across the whole forum, but if I can be selfish and speak for myself, then I was personally very sad to see when you decided to leave the forum a while ago. I honestly thought you were going permanently, and didn't like the thought of it at all. On a brighter note, I was delighted to see that you returned.
Having met (nearly) you all, including yourself, Dave and Jaime, I think that you're all a great bunch, and I'd like to get the chance to meet Mark and Matchless.
Although I'm not aware of any specifics, I would like to say if I may that I'm glad your major health scare didn't turn out to be so serious.
I understand what various medication can lead you to do - not so long back I was on a medication which I believe definately caused me to think about things too much and react on a short fuse.
Since no longer needing that, I became a changed and much more relaxed person, but sometimes we can all over-react sometimes when other people don't see something in the way that we do.
I have spent a long time on the Internet, and I can genuinely say that I have never come across a community such as this one. With very few exceptions, members are all willing to go out of their way to help others.
I won't forget in a hurry the time I asked to borrow your timing kit for the V6. You were more than happy for this - so much so that you invited me up to help me out with the cambelt change! I had a great time coming up to Notitngham and meeting yourself and Dave, and am genuinely grateful for your help and for passing on your knowledge and tips.
Since then, I have undertaken many a cambelt change on a GM V6, including Gwilyms, (from the forum) and various people from work, friends etc - thanks to what I learned on that day.
And being perfectionists, you weren't happy at just changing the cambelt kit and waterpump. You had to clean my breathers, ICV and throttle bodies too.
Cars aside, this forum has given me the confidence and ability and knowledge to do many of the things I do now with my Omega's, and this in turn has given me a passtime and knowledge I will always find useful. It's a huge sense of achievement.
To cut a long story short, I was hugely grateful for the help you both gave me on that day, and I would seriously like to help you out in return if I could. If ever you need anything labour intensive doing on your meega's, such as crawling underneith and fitting gearboxes, and you want an extra pair of hands, then just bear in mind that I'm only more than happy to trundle up to Notts and return the favour for you!
Speaking about rambling, bloody heck, I've only got 1337 letters remaining, and working in three hours (

)so I'll get to bed.
On a final note, as Jaime said in a recent post to me, I'm honoured to be able to call you a friend.
Welcome back to the forum mate, and make sure you are here to stay
