Other than turbo problems, the only complaint I would have would be the leather seats are far to smooth/hard (’99 model).

As a rear passenger, there is only the seatbelt to stop you sliding from one side to the other on any moderate bend and it is a firm ride.

As the driver anything over 30 minutes seriously aggravates my back problems and unfortunately the seats only have minor adjustments.

My old man, who owns the car, has no such back problems and thinks it’s great.   :)

I can only go by comments I've heard but....

Stupid service intervals and abysmal parts availability with horrendous prices ::) ::) ::)

Sorry if that's bad news :-[ :-[ :-[

yeah i believ they also have a "Boxer" Engine the cambelt will be rather interesting to do on one!

theyre meant to be bullet proof for reliability

turbos only give up if you dont keep to the 2 minuite rule! but you could easily fit a turbo timer to it

Reasonable inless its an Imprezza in which case they are rather unreliable.

Any with 4x4 can cause issues as the transfers boxes are a little weak

Original Forester is much better looking...and doesn't look like a Chelsea Tractor.

Car looks always a debatable  we all like different models (thank god)  but always felt the interiors in Subarus were crap, after looking at some of the other Japanese cars on the mkt eg Toyota-Honda-Mazda they are rubbish inside  :y

High boot floor makes for limited luggage capacity.
Gearchange problems reported, particularly getting into reverse, 4th to 5th and 5th to 4th. Reports of early clutch failure.

Other than that, a sound motor.

wife has a '03 Legacy - really high build quality - which surprised me - quite thirsty buggers tho but tough and reliable - we'll happily get another one

doesn't say anything about mileage does it? so I presume they're galactic - looks a bit too cheap otherwise

hope this helps  :y
