The ideal candidate must have "cross-functional experience" and play a "key role in ensuring the effective integration of national, regional and local drivers", the Kirklees Council advert states.

I am pretty much up on these things but I have never heard those phrases.  Perhaps if I understood what it meant I might have applied.  Mind, not sure I would want to drop my salary that much........ :D :D :D

It usually means that as a manager you are capable and experienced of operating in a multi-functional capacity throughout the various departments and specialist sectors of your company.  You also have the ability to motivate, train and manage your team to achieve performance targets, with a driven passion for results.  That was a daily mantra for my managerial life, and still would be!! 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) :D :D ;)

i.e, in English, you should be a good manager. 8-) ::)

That is what comes of 30 years in management, 5 years at board level as part of a multi-international company.  You have to be able to read and write the managerial bullshit as and when necessary to stop yourself sliding down the greasy pole!! ::) ::) ;D ;D ;D ;)

I am not a manager, but believe me, in my role I am well able to use / write the appropriate bull than enables me to say an a dozen 'posh' words what could be said in a few ordinary words.  Something I am not happy with and, within my role, trying to simplify...... :y

Despite the company I worked for making £1.8 million profit a month, which was 30% lower than plan, they decided to make me and 44 other people redundant.

Because I have saved money for my kids to go to university, I'm apparently not entitled to much in the way of benefits until I've spent it, but apparently If I spend it on paying off the mortgage that will be treated as benefit fraud, so I have to spend it all on living, at which point I'll be entitled to benefits and they might just pay the interest on my mortgage (which I could actually pay off!!).

Anyway I digress, here's my details

http://www.linkedin.com/in/markjacksonasconaattitude

If you know anyone that wants someone for a 1 month contract or more doing Lean or six sigma or supplier development.

Damm I came to omega owners dot com to buy an omega - still might if I can find a good one as that is allowed by d-SS rules, not to complain about my problems  :o

You must have sent me vibes !!! I had to go to work and hand their laptop back and 'hand-over' after 3 weeks garden leave. Took about an hour. Got a call on the way home and WOOOOOOWHOOOOOOO! I've got a job. 100 miles from home, 50 week contract.  Yesterday we are working out how to pay for 2 new tyres and today I'm looking for B&B in a town miles away and investigating forming a limited company.

It's terrible that those who actually produce something lose their jobs especially when, in the bloated Alice-in-Wonderland world of the public sector, they are still hiring people at £119k per year who have "cross-functional experience" and play a "key role in ensuring the effective integration of national, regional and local drivers"

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/5627849/119000-council-job-advert-attacked-for-being-written-in-gobbledegook-and-waffle.html

Oh yes, the lucky person to get the post will not do anything useful like making steel, no they will make sure "That the diversity of Kirklees is understood by all in the organisation; is valued as a strength but a strength that challenges us to respond to its complex implications; and is reflected in the career structures within the organisation."

Kirklees Council again. (I seem to recall mentioning them a short while ago - can't remember in what context though).

What a country.  >:(

It is a sure sign of the poor poor state of this country and why we got in this mess in the first place.

Somebody really has to do some work and make something to sell to make any money, you can't just sell money to make money >:(  services industry is nearly as bad, we can't all look after the money someone has to make it!!!

prime example: the largest employer in my home county (Herefordshire) is the bloody council and they're a bunch of lazy tossers >:(
