Hoover Washing Machine Problem

I have a Hoover Quatro Series 1400 Waher/Dryer.


last few washes it has develped a noise.  Sounds loke a high piched rubbing noise.  Only does it on the clockwise motion when tumbling on the wash.  no noise on the anticlock motion or the spin.

Ant thought for what it may be would be appreciated.

The washer never gets overloaded

Check around the nooks & crannies of the door seal to see if any small objects (especially coins) have found their way in.
Also check the waste pump filter.

In the meantime, I'll ask my partner in crime if he has a manual for it or any idea of the drive train setup.

Cheers KW.  At first I thought it might have been a bearing going.  Then it started to sound more like some rubbing so the coin in the seal fits the bill.  Will check later.   :y :y :y

Not the same model but a hoover washer dryer aswell .
I while back mine started to make strmge noises on the dry cycle , I found that this was the fan on the heater blower the bearing had failed .
I could not locate a spare fan but managed to get it apart and found it was a small phosfor/bronze bearing which I managed to locate in a small motor from work . Not been a problem since and cost bugger all too  :y

I never use the dryer side of it.  My problem is just on the clockwise motion of the wash, it starts with the noise as soon as the cycle starts.

Sometimes the bearing seal gets bunged up with detergent, and makes the drum shaft rubbing noise onto the bearing seal, especially as we wash on 40C all the time. Do 2 or 3 back-to-back boilwashes (95C prog) with NO DETERGENT but with a couple of old towels in to splash the water about abit. No need to add any advertised softeners/descalers or anything like that.

Might be worh taking the back off to make sure that the motor mounting bolts haven't worked loose
