this reminded me a similiar moment when I was 18 years old..

on a 4 lane road a woman tried to pass..

I was really fast as there was no passage for pedestrians  , IIRC approx 130-140 km/h..

and the woman didnt stay fix run, to left then run to right my only advantage was that as an instinct when I see any person around the road I put my feet on the brakes without any hesitation.. anyway I decided to pass from most right lane and when she see my decision she turned back and run in the opposite direction again .. she was lucky as my speed dropped quickly and she had time to move.. and  as there was not another car following me she survived..

a few years ago one of my mates brother knocked down and killed a young girl while pi$$ed. he hung himself a few days later. couldnt cope with what he had done.

I don't know about the excess speed, mainly because it's a time lapse camera doing the filming.

There is however no argument about the root cause....it's driver inattention as Zulu correctly stated (the proven cause of 85% + of accidents in the UK).

The video certainly (at least, initially) makes the car driver out to be a idiot, but there are always two sides to every story.
