magna announce....
« on: 14 September 2009, 16:29:33 »

10500 jobs to go. 4500 in Germany alone. The rest to be shared across europe. Which sounds better than Vauxhall feared presumably?

Seems a strange announcement though, as bbc news implied the deal was not yet sealed. So would have thought they would keep quiet as long as possible to keep the piece with unions. Strangely honest ????

Well, seeing as the German government were seemingly so cosy with Magna whereas we had Peter Meddlesome doing his worst, I can imagine where the rest of the losses will be. ::)

The BBC news will probably imply what Mandelson tells them to.imo it will take a while for the dust to settle on this and the final picture to emerge.

Indeed, and exactly that point was raised in the report. Seemingly a slap in the face for Ze Germanz. The rest of statement seemed very open to interpretation, and i guess depends where the next highest concentration of jobs is. Here.

I am sure with the usual eb and flow of these things we will kop it in the end.

I imagine, if true, this is nothing more than a reassurance to the Germans that they will only be copping 4500!

They had him back because he is very clever at the game of politics. He was brought back to save them the humiliation of Brown having to resign, which he was very close to having to do.Brown is now just a figurehead,Mandy is running the show and is,in all probability doing what he does with an eye on helping his old mate Tony get shoe horned in as EU president some time soon.To me thats very scary. :o >:( :'(

Think Luton is safe until the deal with Renault ends in a few years.

Ellesmere may think they are safer than they are - as Rover proved more than once, its not that hard to move a track....
