The bad bit is that probably no one will pay anything of this fine. Most of them will pass it off to smaller companies in the group which will decare bankruptcy and that will be it all over.

Sorry to sound negative, but the parent companies will end up squeaky clean.

That would or may only apply where certain companies have parent companies, not all will ::)

I will put money on most of them having parent companies. Next door to my work place a 5 story office block and new access road is being built, have spoken to most of the external workers over the 2 years it has been built (6 months to go) Guess what, the signs and names of the contractor has changed twice in 2 years, but the workers remain the same. How does that work ?

I spent 20 years working for a company which supplied many of the firms on the list. There is plenty of this sort of thing going on constantly and if its a job for the government you can bet there will be a few more noughts added on,just need to grease the right palms in the procurement depts. ;)

Some of the companies on the list have just submitted tenders for a 5/10 year contract where I work, the contracts amount to in some cases over 100 million. The evaluation process is currently underway, so no doubt the Q.S. involved has already raised this fact with Senior management and our legal section. ::)

Its all right, they'll just all inflate the price of any future contacts by a substantial amount to cover this.
