i love the US - i'm just gobsmacked by the huge proportion who believe, or say they believe, in these fairytales  :o
it's a fact from a national census, the figure was 40% dont believe we were descended from animals and 20% were unsure
it's not racist - America is one of, if not thee, most racially diverse nation on Earth - i'm not attacking race - i'm attacking the bizarre beliefs of a worryingly large section of the general population.by the way, the same question in the UK 16% didn't believe we were descended from animals - i worked with one of these bozos, he found it hilarious that i believed in evolution, like it was a debate in the 1800's or something  :-?

....racism aside, is that not rather intolerant bj, are they not entitled to their legitimately held views? :-/ :-/

i reserve the right to call them idiots - thats my legitimately held view  8-)

As, I suppose, is the "legitimately held" view of certain political parties that people of a certain colour are idiots.  :o :o

I'm not so intolerant of religious views as Bannjaax. Specifically, in the case of the US, if people choose to both believe in Christianity and to abide by its teachings (notably the Ten Commandments) I, for one, would not call them "bozos".

Guess I'm just old-fashioned.  :-[

i'm very intolerant of idiotic fairytales being portrayed as some sort of "truth" and i'm not going to defend my position on that.

lets say theres a little green man who floats around the universe. this little green man created everything, and controls everything in the universe, except he's invisible but you must believe he exists because if you don't, terrible things will happen

i've just created a faith

now, prove to me this invisible, little green man doesnt exist and then we'll talk about religion  ::)

....the thing about faith is that proof is not required :y

how convenient for you all  ;)

you see my point tho - you cant argue with someones beliefs - by definition they believe them - like i can believe in an invisible green man - its no more ludicrous just because millions believe in one invisible entity over another - i dont have to prove he isn't there - what makes your invisible guy so special?  :)

You cannot disprove the existence of a Deity. It is simple impossible. Thus you are not the keeper of truth.  ;)

I find it slighttly disturbing and puzzling that the left are forever hammering Christianity at every opportunity, yet you will never hear them doing the same with other religions.
For example, afaik Muslims believe that Homosexuals should be executed, when adultery takes place the woman involved should be stoned to death, thieves have their hands chopped off etc, but you never hear a peep out of the left about any of this.I find it curious. :-/

Edit - sorry got tat a bit wrong actually, they also like to put the boot into the jews for some reason.

...it's part of the well practised application of the central message - you must only believe what your party official tells you - believe anything else and you become a threat.

It's socialism, communism and Marxism 101 - to use that great US educational term ;) ;)

all religion is bunkum and hogwash m8 - its all made up, so thats kind of a sweeping statement that the left only attack christianity - i for one would end all religion if i could - sounds like the kind of guff Littlejohn spouts tbh

speaking of the US again - i read in a couple of papers that JK Rowling was denied by the Bush administration their highest civilian honour, the "Presidential Medal of Freedom" according to Matt Latimer an ex whitehouse speechwriter.

you really want to know the reason?

this is the 21st century mind................

they were worried her Harry Potter books encouraged witchcraft!  ;D ;D ;D

Yet again that's another substantial swipe at the US bj - comes back the level of belief held and the freedom to hold that irrespective of perceived worthiness I suppose ;)

Can you explain what 'good tripe' is? :-/ :-/

....and should that not be Darren hiding behind the sofa rather than Geordie? ::)
