There was a discussion about the way cyclists ride on the road affecting their chances of being hit by traffic, it reckons women are generally more at risk because they ride nervously, close to the pavement....

why the flashing ones (which are normally multi-led anyway) arent made to have 1 led static regardless I do not know.

Isn't there some piece of arcane legislation that specifies that it has to be an incandescent lamp too?

Kevin

Nope otherwise several motor cars would be foul of the law :y

I read this the other day but I dont think it goes far enough into studying the reasons it only makes assumptions.  This is particularly dangerous, just look at the global warming hype.....

I always promote a positive road position and I always feel much safer by doing so.  I dont sit in the middle of the road without good cause (passing parked cars while cycling downhill being one) but then I dont hug the pavement.  I also tend not to go up the inside of stationary traffic either, especially buses (who will see you but not give a crap) and lorries (massive blind spots all around esp nearside)

I dont care if I slow people down as we are all road users and I often find myself overtaking cars in slow traffic (note: overtake)

Shouting at cyclists without lights at night/on pavements/running red lights is another side hobby which I absolutely love! ;D :y

We are all road users at the end of the day and whether I am on 2 wheels or 4 we all have to share the same tarmac :y

I do 90% of my cycling off the road, I'm glad to say, and not as much traffic as the city in these parts. When I'm on the road though I make sure everybody sees me and if that slows a couple of cars down, it's a small price to pay. Some good points made Guffer  :y :y
