Difficult one this.
Over here in County Kerry red deer are a nuisance and I personally have lost 100's of Euros if not a thousand worth of plants eaten at will by a family that use my garden as their own free Tesco's. I have spent ages erecting wire mesh fencing around my 1.5 acre site to keep them out and still curse them when I find the evidence that they have been back.
But on the other hand I've just spent a very difficult week trying unsuccessfully to find a home for a female deer that was living on a clients estate that we manage in his absence. This deer, "Roberta ", had been reared by hand by a couple of Polish guys who found her after she had been injured in an illegal trap as a young fawn unfortunatly they have returned to Poland and she was set free to fend for herself. She took up residence in this small but perfect for her , estate feeding off the well stocked borders around the house. She had absolutley no fear of humans and actually seemed at home around us nuzzling into you like a dog. Unfortunatly the owner had had enough of the destruction and the fact that she defacated all around the very expensive Liscanna stone walkways and patios.
Anyway, the owner instructed a local to "remove " poor Roberta on Wednesday this week but didn't inform me until after the event .
Here she is on Wednesday morning ,
