Todays the day!
« on: 11 February 2010, 06:06:00 »

Todays the day, thats the baxi,s dragged out and a new combi installed, dreading the mess, but looking forward to lower bills.
Of course also doing my bit to lower my carbon footprint and thus saving the world,eg see my earlier posting on climate change(they must be joking).

I got an IDEAL ISOR boiler and I live in a 2 year old 4 bedroom house, there are 94 houses on the estate and everyone has problems with heating system, I was without hot water and heating for 6 weeks back in October, system is insured with Ideal and it took 13 visits to get it right and it broke down again 2 weeks later. Very poor system, and only IDEAL will insure them.
Maybe come the summer I will buy a new system.

Unfortunately, in my experience, Worcester Combi's are prone to expensive failures due to limescale if installed in Hard Water areas without a good (expensive) descaler fitted to the mains inlet. I know ALL boilers are susceptible to limescale, but Worcester don't seem to design their machines with the repair technician in mind & this means longer repair times to inadequate access, plus parts are at the upper end of the scale as regards cost. :(

Admittedly, mine's not a combi but... It's over 20 years old and still running fine (touch wood) and the guy who services it said it will do for years to come as long as the heat exchanger doesn't pack in :y :y
