Motorsport - V8 Supercars
« on: 24 February 2010, 19:06:06 »

Finally the end of February has arrived and with it the start of all motor sport for the year. F1, WTCC, BTCC, WSB, WRC and my favourite V8 Supercars...

Just wondering if anyone else on here follows the Aussie V8's and saw the first round from Yas Marina??

Must admit that I am a huge bike fan - be it World Supers Moto GP BSB but I do also watch the Aussie V8 series the highlight being the Bathurst 1000,it makes btcc seem pedestrian in comparrison

Became a fan last year, especially when one round was from Hamilton in New Zealand which is where my uncle lives. He sent me some pics. Favourite is Bathurst. Just love that mountain course. Cheering on the Holden`s of course. Missed the first round but normally catch up on it on Motors tv. :y

if its got an engine mate, i'm there.

Love Aussie touring cars. Find motors tv a bit annoying though, crap picture for one thing, and Johnathen Greening comentating for another. They need an hd channel.

I've always had a soft spot for the Bathurst 1000 or whatever they call it this year.  They were leaders in placing cameras in new locations (in headlights and under front spoilers, on PTZ heads next to the driver etc.)  very entertaining.

Sadly though I don't pay extra for viewing tv so quite a bit gets missed.  If I changed that I would never get anything useful done.

ITV4 did a good run last year on the BTCC and all the supporting races.  Trouble was, they then re-transmitted all of the support races as edited compilations and it was a nightmare trying to work out which I'd seen already.

Generally F1, MotoGp and BTCC if broadcast on free-to-air services.

Its always the Bathurst 1000, the only part that changes is the bit before. sponsor name, you know that malarkey..
In my humble opinion that weekend in October is one of the best motor sport events anywhere in the world.. And I used to live just an hour away, would get free tickets each year too ;)

I cant believe you dont get channel 7's coverage from Australia, to see that you can go to this guys channel on youtube and watch all the races after he uploads them.. this is the link to the first part of the Yas Marina race... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFpadBoS5v8 or www.darcyf1.com has downloads to get after each race... they also do Moto Gp, WSB and BTCC I think ;)

Putting 29, 600+ BHP RWD V8's on any track in the world is going to give great racing.. and with cars looking like this...

and

Cant wait for Bahrain this weekend!!! going to be some fired up drivers after last week at Yas... :P :D

i think Ive recorded  Bathurst for the past 5-6 years . Ive got family in Townsville which will be convenient for the race . Just have to borrow a bed off them and I'll be happy as a happy thing. Apart from the fact they support ford  it should be a laugh

:) Im assuming you mean for the townsville street race? Bathurst is a fair way away from there...

The thing that makes that one race so great (Bathurst 1000) is just how much the race can change over a day,, and How it has a habit of throwing up something new..

Recently there was a 12 hour race held there. for an hour the track was closed as a tree fell over it in a heavy storm.. :) something new every year!!
