I disagreed with almost everything Michael Foot stood for and said.  But I have to admit he was a great man - they just don't make them like that any more. :( :( :(

People of principle, irrespective of political leaning, are always to be treasured and in the sad death of Michael Foot, this country has lost not only an accomplished parliamentarian but a fundamentally decent, erudite and principled human being.

I have little time for politics.
A:- Because it's dull, grey & mind numbingly boring
B:- All parties become the same once elected.
C:- Because i'm shallow of mind, impatient & don't suffer rude lying selfish fools gladly.
I do however think well of Micheal Foot. As Debs said he was out for the people not for himself (rare today) he was an accomplished orator to point of spectacular putdowns that todays rabble could only dream of matching. He also had a sense of humour to the point of being deliberately comical. He also had a way of attacking issues & foes with wild gusto resulting in him being nicknamed Tarzan.
An incredibly astute & interesting character in a dull world.

I thought that was Michael Hesletine, I may be wrong though.

met the bloke down at greenham common in the 80's    ( he was with the rug munchers peace protestors. )     i was on the other side of the fence  :y

had a cup of tea and a chat with the bloke and i have to say, even though i thought he was full of sh*t when it came down to politics, i admire the bloke for standing by his convictions  :y
old school politcian who stud by his priniples and never wavered  :y

I heard on the radio today that his famous "scruffy duffle coat" which he got lambasted for wearing to the cenotaph was actually a very fine quality coat which was bought from Harrods.
Like Jeraboam I disagreed with much of what he believed in but I respected the fact that his beliefs were genuine and held for the best of reasons, and in fact when he was a young man some of these beliefs may have held more water and had more relevance than they would in todays world.
The one thing I would agree with him on was the fact that he apparently beleived strongly in the U.K. withdrawal from Europe.
