Speed Gun Evidence
« on: 21 April 2010, 22:42:26 »

Just looking at a speeding case for someone.

Device used was the LTI 20 20 TSM Speedscope and have seen the calibration certificate etc. The camera viewing officer has put in evidence to support the summons that the photo reference number has been changed from "2540 to 2540A for administrative reasons". Anyone come across this before?

Why would you change an original photo identifier unless a) it was a back up copy but surely you would keep the copy for your own purposes and submit the original ref to court or b) something has been changed, resized.

Any experiences?

Dunno, but based on that gun, I would have a load of youtube evidence to back a claaim up and have it ready to play as evidence.

Apparently if these gun are not calibrated right again a moving tarket there may be some leeway on the case.

You need to ask for the calibration viseo to be shown at the court case.  :y  (Do your home work, interesting stuff)

Sounds like the photo Ref. No. is a copy of the original? AFAIK, only original documents are supposed to be used for direct court evidence with copies going to either parties legal team :-/

the camera should be tested before use every day against a calibrated traffic car which holds a valid certificate

But if the gun moves off the number plate , or even worse the car during a speed reading it maybe an inacurate reading.  Hence the reason they should video the calibration taking place.
