"The Squier Special Strat is the all time classic of electric guitars. The original Stratocaster, as it was named, was designed and built in 1954 by Leo Fender, an amp and guitar maker in America. The design of the guitar was, and still is, revolutionary and we believe it owes its modernistic name to the then super-modern aircraft, the 'Stratocruiser'."

Which is probably the reason that the Stratocaster is nicknamed the Startocruiser by some.

There you go. All one and the same. I'll still give a fiver for it! :y
Squier brand guitars are Fenders cheap Mexican entry-level versions of the real things - like my 1955 Stratocaster! (it's also my Pension)
The original Fender electric guitar was the Broadcaster circa 1950 which had to be renamed the Telecaster because it infringed someone elses' brand name

Absolutely, Gretsch had a "Broadcaster" electric guitar, and threatened to sue Leo for a lot of money!!
mine is a '67 in black with a maple neck and is my pension too!!

(prefer to play my Parker Fly or Gibbo Goldtop though, sounds better!)
