Charlie Watts
« on: 31 May 2010, 01:11:39 »

watching the excellent "exile on main street" Rolling Stones documentary, brought to mind a quote from the legendary Charlie Watts, which I searched for on t'internet:

A famous anecdote relates that during the mid-1980s, an intoxicated Jagger phoned Watts's hotel room in the middle of the night asking where "my drummer" was. Watts reportedly got up, shaved, dressed in a suit, put on a tie and freshly shined shoes, descended the stairs and punched Jagger in the face, saying: "Don't ever call me your drummer again. You're my %$£@*ing singer!"

cool guy  8-)

He is the only Stone who I like tbh. I think jagger and Richards are a couple of tw*ts.
He is so laid back that when their on tour he never even knows which city he is in. He just goes on stage plays the drums, and goes back to the hotel afterwards. Apparently he went out for a walk once and got hopelessly  lost because he forgot the name of the hotel and as he didnt know which city he was in, he had a hell of a job getting back in time for the gig. ::)

I watched the "Exile on Main St " documentery last week which was good but did anyone watch the Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers story which really was great viewing ?
Re Ronnie Wood , I remember reading in one of the Sunday Businesss supplements  that when playing with the 'Stones he is paid ( albeit fairly handsomly )as an employee and gets no cut of the profits from the tours and merchandise of Rolling Stones Ltd.
