take the £800, break the car, as most others have said, cos surely you can get plenty of the difference if not all back from parts

Well you know what they say.....act in haste and repent at your leisure......well guess what ive accepted the £1150,with the excess im looking at £1050. :-/

I know i could get a mate to do the body work,ok it would look a bodge but that wouldn't worry me too much and then ive a mate who is an MOT tester so he would make sure it was up to scratch (no pun intended) for the MOT....but then id still have the niggly bits to sort on it so thought sod it take the cash.

Ive still got the Elite which now has the climate working spot on and puncture repaired (thought it was the tracking  :-[) Good service and a set of break pad sensors and its a lovely car.....might drive that for a week or two and sell it and add that to the grand from the estate.

Now gotta see what the Elite is worth with 6 months tax and 12 months MOT...... :)

Regards stripping it......would anyone really have wanted parts off a 116,000 mile engine and its only a GLS so no toys or leather. :(

I'm too late to comment but I think your rationale is sound. A lot of extra work for a few hundred quid more and unless your confident and have the right tools.  :-/

Shame though  :(

Its an Estate which are always popular  :y

But thing is tunnie its an estate in a state.....no really it is  ;)

Chopsdad is right if i had plenty of free time and the tools then stripping it might have been the way forward, but as i have neither then all the work for a couple of hundred wouldnt have been worth the hassle.

Ive chilled abit now and think ive done the right thing.....not sure how far a Grand will get me though. :-/

Yeah and how much would still be outstanding money wise.... ;D

Or you could see whats out there Ronnie....say a nice 2.0/2.5 saloon that would receive the Ronnie Mcb Special touch in the grandish area. ;)

Even better once youve found said motor car you could take my spiffing Elite as part Ex.... :y ;D
