Litter and Stonehenge
« on: 21 June 2010, 12:17:30 »

had to smile. There was a piece on the BBC TV news this morning about the aftermath of the Druids etc celebrating the rising of the sun and longest day etc.

The place was a mess with litter. And this from "tree huggers" not some drink/drug fuelled party. It seems to be a modern malaise that when you have finished with something just let it fall out of your hand. Then in the background, among the army of people employed to clean up, a person had at least five goes at picking up ONE piece of litter with a stick with a grab on the end!

And people wonder what is wrong with Great Britain ;D ;D ;D

The funny thing is that archaeologists have recognised a fact that dates back to at least the Iron Age and Roman periods of British history.

That is once storage pots or cooking crockery was used just a few times, or even in some cases just once, it was just discarded 'outside the back door' and these piles of debris are commonly discovered on the sites of occupation.

Therefore the age of use and discard is centuries old in Britain, and the modern habit of discarding food and other packaging is not that new!! :D :D ;)
