I went 'cold turkey' in 1991 after I was told there was hardly any pulse in my lower legs & I risked losing one or both sooner rather than later :o It was flippin hard going for quite a while as I was a heavy smoker (as in, never one out of my mouth heavy ::)) but i'm now glad I stopped when I did or else i'd never have got through this last bit of bother. I still get the occassional craving for a smoke though, usually after a pint or two ::) ;)

The operation you had Phil.........I'm pretty sure I watched a programme about a lorry driver from your neck of the woods who had exactly the same op.  :-/

Yep, his name is Dave, lives in Newcastle. We both had the same Surgeon. His tumour was 2mm, or about the size of a grain of rice. Mine was 12 centimetres, about the size of a large mans fist, & I was in the Theatre for 12 hours!!! Nowt to brag about though :-[
Thank God I found Prof. Griffin, i'm convinced he was the only man alive capable of saving my life!, the man is a Saint in my eyes.  :y
