Being as this is such a good site i would love to know how & why it was started, anyone?

We were all a happy bunch at the other site (V x O N), until the admins over there went mad and started insulting us for no other reason then the fact that we are a civilised lot and don't care much about chasing Subarus Imrezas with souped-up Astras, so we left... some enterprising guys set up the new site (you can identify them by the titles 'Admin' or 'Moderator' etc) and we all moved over... I am not one of the founders but I do take pride in having joined OOF just two days after it was set up. Some of us still log-on to V x O N, some are banned... I am not banned but personally don't bother. Incidentally, V x O N is a good site and the Omega guys there are still good people, it is the admins who are a bit OTT for me.

I kind of get the feeling i shouldn't ask but wondered why some people would want to ban these guys when they have so much knowledge of vauxhalls in general, especialy the omega. Seems like its thier loss

Let me try to clarify this. It started about a year ago when one of the forum moderators on the aforementioned site decided to insult me a lot publicly. I dared to object and all hell broke lose. I threatened to just go and start an omega owners forum and myself, Laidback, MarksDTMCaib and TheBoy did just that.

VERY many of the clan followed suit and before very long we had all the knowledgable guys on board.

The fact that this site is so successful is mainly down to two people. Laidback, who runs the site and TheBoy who puts in a HUGE amount of tiem to ensure the technical side of the site runs smoothly.

In addition, MarksDTMCalib is the Master of knowledge as far as the Omega is concerned and his outstanding commitment to the site and its members is exemplary. AutoAddict is another moderator who keeps a close eye on things, so that if anyone strays from pleasant, he and the other admins can keep them in check.

At Christmas I resigned as an admin due to health issues and other commitments. I still contribute as do the very many guys and gals on here. We all have a common goal. To save money, keep our cars on the road and enjoy the greatness that is Omega.

The site is not only down to the guys running it, but to the 1000+ members who regularly contribute and help each other. This is what makes a site great.

The tone and undue sarcasm on the other site have seen me post 2000+ here and just 50 over there - and that's usually just helping out people in trouble.


I joined after the site was already established and only have good things to say about OOF - or Omega Sad Boys it is known in my house. :-/
