British mother-in-law jokes, as well as offensively sexist in their own right, can also be seen as offensive on the grounds that they disrespect elders or parents.

seem to recall reading somewhere that much of the popularity of mother-in-law jokes came about during and just after the war when there was a shortage of housing and so frequently ,extended families were forced to live together in cramped enviroments with little or no privacy. Hence the age groups  who told the jokes. As for Barnet  Council, well, what more can anyone on here add to the comments that have been continually made about Political  Correctness gone mad...

I also suffer Barnet council they want to shut down community centre for a bus stand. Biggest bunch of twits going.
