CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS<!!!!!!!!!!
« on: 09 October 2010, 18:31:55 »

How do you put a giraffe into a refrigerator?

Stop and think about it and decide on your answer before you scroll down.

The correct answer is: Open the refrigerator, put in the giraffe, and close the door. This question tests whether you tend to do simple things in an overly complicated way.

2 How do you put an elephant into a refrigerator?

Did you say, Open the refrigerator, put in the elephant, and close the refrigerator?

Wrong Answer.

Correct Answer: Open the refrigerator, take out the giraffe, put in the elephant and close the door. This tests your ability to think through the repercussions of your previous actions.

3. The Lion King is hosting an animal conference. All the animals
attend .... Except one. Which animal does not attend?

Correct Answer : The Elephant. The elephant is in the refrigerator. You just put him in there. This tests your memory. Okay, even if you did not answer the first three questions correctly, you still have one more chance to show your true abilities.

4. There is a river you must cross but it is used by crocodiles, and
you do not have a boat. How do you manage it?

Correct Answer:? You jump into the river and swim across. Have you not been listening? All the crocodiles are attending the Animal Meeting. This tests whether you learn quickly from your mistakes.

According to Anderson Consulting Worldwide, around 90% of the
Professionals they tested got all questions wrong, but many preschoolers got several correct answers. Anderson Consulting says this conclusively disproves the theory that most professionals do not have the brains of a four-year-old.

like it :y

ps On a serious note our lad has Aspergers and one of the tests for that is the "sally- Anne" test. The experimenter uses 2 dolls-Sally and Anne-to show their subjects (usually children).Sally puts a marble in her basket then leaves .While sally is gone (and therefore cant watch) Anne takes the marble out of the basket and puts it into her box. Sally comes back and the children are asked where they think sally will look for her marble. They are said to "pass" the test if they understand that she will most likely look in her basket before realizing it isnt there. children under 4 and most children (of older age)on the autistic spectrum will state "annes box" as they are seemingly unaware that Sally does not know her marble has been moved.Again, all about reality and memory.

I rather think this proves that Anderson Consulting are as useless as I've always thought them to be.

The answers they say are correct are, in fact, NOT necessarily correct, since there is no logical reason - unless stated - to assume the events described are linked in any contemporaneous fashion. Each one is presented as an isolated event. A child, however, is more likely to assume some linkage as the concept of time is one of the last that is understood during cognitive growth. They are thus more likely to assume a connection and see all the actions as following on from one another.

IMHO.  :y
