Engine management light on the Elite !
« on: 07 May 2007, 18:53:57 »

EML Came on coming home from work, with a lack of power.

Grrrr.. I read the codes, got

144 - immobiliser (can be ignored, keeps coming back but never causes any probs)
71 / 21 = Air temp sensor and Throttle Position sensor voltage low
19 = crank sensor low voltage

Now - the 19 worried me a tad.. however I lifted the bonnet, and found the ATS had fallen off. Ah ha.

Plug it back in, EML goes off.  :y

So I'll suck it and see.

But I've got a new crank sensor just in case (off the 2.5, I paid full retail price for it at Vx about 5 months ago!)

You don't think that it was just the ECU getting it's knickers in a twist because the ATS was unplugged?

I've had no crank sensor symptoms - yet ;D

Nope. Its a sensor all set to piss you off when you least expect it, and when you are in no position to fix it. Sort it, it only takes 15 mins....

Thankfully, I've got a known good sensor off my 2.5, with the same connector on the end. Cost me something around £120 from Vx only 5 months ago, and done bugger all miles. I'll swap them over on Friday when I do the gearbox change :)
